The Swedish Embassy in Dhaka and the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) have teamed up on a project to facilitate a green transition in the garment industry in Bangladesh.

The main objective of the project is to facilitate climate neutral growth and create productive employment opportunities for women and youth in the country, she added.

Johansson and Fahmida Khatun, Executive Director of the CPD, recently signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties at the Swedish Embassy.

Stressing the importance of the project, Fahmida said securing the employment of women and youth alongside a green transition is crucial for sustainable economic growth.

Bangladesh is determined to ensure sustainable economic growth and thus ensuring environmental compliance in the industrial sector can help the country achieve its goals in this regard, she added.
