The work of the Rajasthani Assembly was briefly adjourned on Thursday after opposition BJP lawmakers entered the well and shouted anti-government slogans.

The outcry began when BJP lawmaker Satish Poonia spoke during the budget discussion in the House.

Poonia has raised questions related to farmer suicide, farm loan forgiveness and infant deaths in the past at a Kota hospital.

This led to a heated exchange of words between ruling and opposition lawmakers.

President Rajendra Pareek sought the cooperation of lawmakers to let the House function and asked them to maintain the dignity of the House, but to no avail.

Amid the din, opposition lawmakers gathered in the well shouting slogans against the government.

Pareek urged BJP lawmakers to return to their seats, but paid no attention, after which the House was adjourned for 30 minutes.
