DP World, the flagship Jebel Ali (Jafza) Free Zone of the UAE region, has improved and raised the roads and infrastructure at its premises over the past five years, with the aim of providing facilities and top notch amenities to those operating in the free zone. The projects include sustainable developments and major construction works valued at around AED 2.484 billion.

In line with Dubai Demand Side Management (DSM) 2030, sustainability is an integral part of Jafza’s core business values. Jafza is committed to investing in sustainable development projects, being the leader in this aspect and leading the sustainable development movement in the country. In doing so, it has constantly encouraged its customers to reduce their energy consumption, conserve natural resources and reduce carbon emissions.

In addition, Jafza was one of the first free zones in the country / region to install a large number of energy efficient LED street lights worth AED 80 million. Its major projects to renovate existing facilities worth AED 105 million resulted in a 30% reduction in energy consumption, thus meeting the DSM target in advance. In addition, DP World and Jafza have also completed one of the largest rooftop solar power programs in the region, generating approximately 45 gigawatt hours (GWHr) per year.

Key features of the upgrades include improvements to the AED 1.2 billion Jafza One complex and the construction of housing comprising 13 buildings, each of G + 10 floors for 35,000 occupants and a food court, all two costing AED 689 million. A new set of Light Industrial Units (LIUs) and warehouses valued at AED 130 million, new bridges, upgraded roads and stormwater improvements in Jafza North valued at 280 million million AED are part of the development work.

Spread over an area of ​​57 km², Jafza acts as a dynamic base for more than 8,500 registered companies in over 140 countries and is an essential part of the integrated trade and logistics center of the DP World UAE region.
