Edgar Dreyer Brian Dreyer Garrett Behrle
In 1970, Edgar Dreyer started Dreyer Electric with a $ 1,000 bank loan, an old Ford pickup truck, and a prayer.
Having worked for his father-in-law in the electrical field, Dreyer knew a lot about the trade. He began to connect with local farmers and work long hours. During this time, starting a business was slow, but people were still paying their bills. Every day was different, but his faith in God sustained him. Dreyer Electric has been growing for 50 years.
Since then, Dreyer Electric has moved from the Edgar Garage in Frohna, Missouri to its permanent location just down the road. According to Dreyer, the plan has always been to tell the truth and to treat customers well; be honest in business dealings and be fair to everyone. ??
It was also important for him to develop great leaders and teach the next generation.
Her dreams came true in 1978 when her son Brian started working for the family business as a full time employee. Together, they worked until the mid-80s when everything was manual.

Life has changed and so has business. Over the years, better tools and equipment have improved work efficiency and safety. The cordless drill was a game-changer. And they were able to grow.
Currently, Dreyer Electric has 12 employees and three generations. In 2020 Brian’s daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Garrett Behrle took over the family electric business, but Edgar and Brian continue to show up to cheer them on. Men realize that being able to pass the business on to the second and third generation is a blessing. And they are proud of the work they have done.
?? We put all our heart and soul into our work, ?? Brian said.
?? And we pray a lot, ?? Edgar added,
In today’s world, it is their faith, family and values that have set them apart and led to their success.
And the success of their business includes everything from changing a home light switch to wiring the Drury Plaza hotel. As part of the group of independent electrical contractors, Dreyer Electric can service any size job its customers require. They wired restaurants, schools, churches, homes, and businesses all over Southeast Missouri. They take pride in making sure the job is done right the first time around. Both professionally and personally, it is important that their clients are satisfied with the work they have done and that they have a positive experience.
?? We won’t always be the cheapest, but we will always do the job correctly and thoroughly, ?? Behrle said.
As for the future, Dreyer Electric is aware of technological developments and intends to follow the latest trends. A new one, ?? greener ?? approach to electricity is already happening across the country. Lighting controls, presence detectors and LED lighting are evolving. ?? Daylight harvest ?? will automatically dim the lights during daylight hours. Behrle believes he will be part of this ever-changing industry.
LED lighting, Bluetooth controls, and electric cars have all become more popular in recent years, and as these trends continue to make waves across the country, electrical work will be needed. Every building needs electricity. The larger the project, the more electrical equipment there is. With a wide variety of duties and service jobs, there is a lot going on behind the scenes. Fortunately, their employees are adept at taking on challenges and, with a strong team, Dreyer Electric is ready for anything.
It’s easy to take electricity for granted, until you don’t. And that’s why Dreyer Electric is responsive, in person and in business, to serve you. A family business that loves its employees, its customers and its community. They have been loyal for 50 years, and in the hands of the next generation, they plan to be loyal for at least another 50 years.
